स कदाचिद् भ्रमंस्तस्मिन् पृथिव्या: ककुदि द्विज: ।
न्याग्रोधपोतं ददृशे फलपल्लवशोभितम् ॥ २० ॥

शब्दार्थ
- — he; kadācit — on one occasion; bhraman — while wandering; tasmin — in that water; pṛthivyāḥ — of earth; kakudi — upon a raised place; dvijaḥ — the brāhmaṇa; nyāgrodha-potam — a young banyan tree; dadṛśe — saw; phala — with fruits; pallava — and blossoms; śobhitam — decorated.
भाषांतर
Once, while wandering in the water, the brāhmaṇa Mārkaṇḍeya discovered a small island, upon which stood a young banyan tree bearing blossoms and fruits.
