अपश्यंस्तक्षकं तत्र राजा पारीक्षितो द्विजान् ।
उवाच तक्षक: कस्मान्न दह्येतोरगाधम: ॥ १८ ॥

apaśyaṁs takṣakaṁ tatra
rājā pārīkṣito dvijān
uvāca takṣakaḥ kasmān
na dahyetoragādhamaḥ
